Radioactive Material Safety Introduction
Purpose
The Radioactive Material Safety Program has been developed to facilitate the safe handling of radioisotopes at the university.
Application
The Radioactive Material Safety Program covers all faculty, staff, and students working with radioisotopes on campus and off site locations. This includes research laboratories, diagnostic procedures and treatments, field studies and facility work involving specific analytical measurements.
Scope
This program encompasses Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Virginia Department of Radiological Health regulations and recommendations in a concise, formal document for use by the university community.
