Awareness Level Training

Each employee required to enter an excavation greater than four feet deep must attend EHS Excavation Awareness training prior to entry. Information regarding related hazards and methods of protection are covered.

Competent Person(s) Level Training

Designated departmental competent persons who will be performing inspections and providing oversight must attend EHS Excavation Competent Person training. Topics include:

• Hazards related to excavation work,
• Work practices and selection of protective systems,
• Methods of evaluating the site and conducting inspections,
• Requirements of this program and any related programs,
• Emergency procedures.
